About Darlene Moore

Darlene Moore

Owner, Digital Strategist, Analyst & Trainer

I’ve always been drawn to problems that don’t stay solved.

Maybe that’s why I’ve spent 25+ years in search marketing — an industry that reinvents itself every few years whether you’re ready or not. I’m also neurodiverse, which probably helps.

I’m Darlene Moore, founder of DriveTraffic Digital Marketing, one of the earliest SEO agencies in the Ottawa-Gatineau region and the area’s first woman-owned search marketing agency.

One of my first roles involved working with a Montreal agency whose clients were primarily online casinos. Just as I was finding my footing in Google AdWords, Google changed its policies — overnight, online casinos couldn’t advertise directly through the platform. The whole traffic model had to be rebuilt from scratch.

That experience shaped how I’ve thought about digital marketing ever since:

"The businesses that succeed are the ones that adapt quickly instead of relying too heavily on any single platform or tactic."

CAREER

Montreal Agency

Early Search Marketing
My introduction to the internet’s favourite pastime: changing the rules mid-game. Online casinos, Google policy shifts, and learning that traffic strategy can’t depend on any single door staying open.

Protus

SEO & Google Ads
Managing search across three very different products taught me something that still shapes how I work: people don’t search for what you sell, they search for what they need. I was fascinated by that gap long before anyone was calling it “search intent.”

Consultwebs

Multi-client SEO for law firms
A US agency serving lawyers — structured, process-driven, and my first experience working with distributed global teams. Also where I learned that thought leadership isn’t optional in competitive industries.

Enquiro → Mediative → Yellow Pages

SEO, Ads & team leadership
Started in SEO, expanded into paid search, and eventually managed 13 people across three provinces — remotely, before remote work had a name. Enterprise accounts like Grainger meant manually managing massive product catalogues (and 5 match types compared to today’s 3!) long before feed automation made that less painful. One of my most rewarding roles!

Digital Main Street / Invest Ottawa

Program leadership
Managed four managers supporting roughly 100 recent graduates delivering free digital services to Ontario businesses.

Ongoing consulting for Small Businesses and Entrepreneurs.

Another one of my favourite roles!

DriveTraffic Digital Marketing

Founder (ongoing)
Still here, still adapting. Still focused on SEO, Google Ads and Analytics with a side of Conversion Rate Optimization :-). Adding business succession planning to the mix as of fall 2026 as record numbers of people prepare to exit their business.

HOW I HELP

Most businesses I work with aren’t short on marketing activity. They’re short on clarity — on what’s actually working, what isn’t, and why the gap between effort and results keeps widening.

My role is part strategist, part translator, part detective. Sometimes the answer is SEO. Sometimes it’s Google Ads, analytics, website experience, or AI workflows. Often it’s untangling all of the above.

OUTSIDE THE OFFICE

When I’m not thinking about search algorithms or helping businesses untangle their marketing, I’m usually on the water, on a bike, or in the garden. I plan trips the way I plan campaigns – thoroughly, then adapt when things don’t go to plan. And if there’s a dog nearby, we’re stopping. That’s non-negotiable.

Marketing has changed beyond recognition since I started. But the core question businesses ask me is: is my marketing working the way it should?

If you’d like a straight answer, let’s talk.
